The 5000 hectare reserve in the
Central Lowveld, which previously had nothing to offer, now boasts the
Big-Five. The first animals to be re-introduced to the property were white
rhino, hence the name Tshukudu, meaning rhino in Sotho.
The Lodge can accommodate up to 28 people in 13
rooms. All rooms allow you to enjoy a view of the
beautiful Drakensberg mountain range from the privacy of your own veranda.
Each room has en-suite bathrooms ensuring the best facilities and comfort.
Tshukudu has accommodation
available for physical challenged guests.
Evening meals are enjoyed under the stars
around the boma fire. One can enjoy excellent African cuisine prepared by
the chefs. The boma area provides the perfect place for all to catch up the
days events while enjoying your meal.
The lodge was established in 1980 when the
resourceful and innovative Sussens family arrived on their new farm near
Hoedspruit. The former cattle farm, previously owned by the late Pres.
Diedericks, demanded hard work and dedication from each of the four family
members. Today the results are there for all to enjoy when they visit
Tshukudu.
The Sussens family started 13 years ago a
lion breeding project which has succesfully delivered 270 lions being
re-introduced into varuous game reserves. The lion breeding camps are
visited during a full day game drive. In between the game drives and walks,
guests can enjoy a hearty luncheon on the veranda and later lounge around a
welcoming, cool swimming pool.
The big attraction at Thsukudu is our cheetah.
