Location: - a satellite camp from Shishangeni Lodge, Camp Shawu is
situated on a 15.000 ha private concession in the south-eastern part of the Kruger National Park.
Access: via the road from Johannesburg (5h30' driving) or via Maputo
(1h20'). Camp Shawu can be reach by road via the Crocodile Bridge Gate, one
of the entrance into Kruger National Park. From the gate it is only 14 km
driving to Shawu. Via air: Kruger
Mpumalanga International Airport (KMIA) – 110 Km; Maputo Airport
(Mozambique) - 125 km or Malelane Airport - 70 km. Guests are transferred on
arrival by the lodge staff.
Accommodation:
the camp can sleep 10 guests in 5 individual safari tents. Each tent has an
en-suite bathroom with ball and claw bath, outdoor shower, ceiling fans,
fire place and a private deck with outdoor furniture.
Facilities: the central part of the camp has a charming lounge with
library, indoor and outdoor dining area, a wooden observing deck and splash
pool. Power supply is 220V.
Activities:
situated in Big 5 area, learn more about the eco system during a bush walk
or a 4x4 safari game drive.
Children: Camp Shawu
is very child friendly for all ages. A babysit can be arranged on request.
Due to safety reasons, children under the age of 6 are not allowed on game
drives and walks. Only children over 12 year old are allowed to join a
safari walk.
Communication: The Camp
has radio contact with the Shishangeni Lodge. There is no fax or telephone
facilities in the camp.
