Location: - a satellite camp from Shishangeni Lodge, Camp Shawu
is situated on a 15.000 ha private concession in the south-eastern part of
the Kruger National Park.
Access: via the road from Johannesburg (5h30' driving) or via Maputo
(1h20'). Camp Shawu can be reach by road via the Crocodile Bridge Gate, one
of the entrance into Kruger National Park. From the gate it is only 14 km
driving to Shawu. Via air: Kruger
Mpumalanga International Airport (KMIA) – 110 Km; Maputo Airport
(Mozambique) - 125 km or Malelane Airport - 70 km. Guests are transferred on
arrival by the lodge staff.
Accommodation: the camp can
sleep 10 people in 5 very large rooms overlooking the Mpanamana dam.
Each rooms is luxurious and have a claw bath, minibar, lounge with fire
place, ceiling fans and outdoor shower. The large veranda has comfortable
chairs and is the ideal spot to observe game around the dam.
Facilities: the central part
of the camp offers a lounge, indoor en outdoor dining room and a splash
pool. Power supply is 220V
Activities: an old fashioned walking safari with an experienced
ranger or a 4x4 safari drive in open vehicles.
Children: Camp Shawu is very
child friendly for all ages. A babysit can be arranged on request. Due to
safety reasons, children under the age of 6 are not allowed on game drives
and walks. Only children over 12 year old are allowed to join a safari walk.
Communication: The Camp has
radio contact with the Shishangeni Lodge. There is no fax or telephone
facilities in the camp.
