The Erinvale Golf Club is
a private club where guests staying at the Erinvale Estate Hotel play as
memebers.
This course, which was designed by South Africa's famous
Grand Slam winner, Gary Player, is something special. Here, the golf world
championship took place in 1986. Renowned landscape architects, with great
sensitivity, created the right mixture of sophistication and nature.
The view to the nearby Hottentots Hollands Mountains is
breathtaking. The first nine holes are in the valley of the Lourens River and
are comparatively easy to play, although lots of water and various bunkers
require accurate pitching. The other nine lead up the slopes of the Helderberg
and then down again in a great arc. Overall one of the more beautiful courses
albeit not the most favourable one.
