Cape Town is situated on the African continent but is NOT typical African. We
not have any epidemic problems, no or hearly no malaria and we are the most
European city on the continent. We are able to give the best medical treatments

My wife and I visited Cape Town for the first time in
1980. We lost immediately our heart to this beautiful city. The medical standard
is fully comparable with the best European and American treatments, especially
in the our private hospitals. These hospitals have the most modern facilities
and equipment delivering efficient medical service.

You can drink without any health risk tap water in Cape Town. Even fruit from
the street can be consumed at once (recommended to rinse off).
In case you should have plans to visit Kruger National
Park or certain regions in Kwazulu-Natal and the Eastern Cape, it is
recommended to take precautions against malaria. Ask advise to your doctor or
local tropical institute. A vaccination against hepatitis A Prophylaxes and tetanus
are recommended. Precautions against cholera and yellow fever have to be
considered only in extreme circumstances.
It is to be recommended to take an extra travel insurance.
Medical costs can most of the time be claimed back from your medical institution
at home.
