Cape Town
Township experience
in the enormous townships near Cape Town. This time we make direct
contact with locals and not a township tour which is numerous visits
to arts & crafts markets. The group will be split in smaller groups
which will make this experience more authentic. The focus of this
tour is the people, their culture and life in the townships. Walk in
Langa where we will see the Spaza shops, shebeens and hostels. Home
visit to a traditional Xhosa, visit to a crèche, orphanage, Love
Life Aids centre and a local clinic. Lunch buffet in the Eziko
Restaurant. We continue to Bonteheuwel where we will see the huge
difference between a 'coloured' and black township. Visit to the Amy
Biehl Memorial in Gugulethu, in memory of an American student who
was killed by black students during apartheid. At present, the
parents from the American student and the black boys (who were
pardoned by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission) are united in a
feeding project. To conclude the tour a stop at the Guguletu Seven
Memorial. Return to Cape town where we refresh in the hotel.
Transfer to the beach in the evening for a beach
'braai' barbeque. While dining listening to the Cape Minstrals (tradtional
coloured music which can be compared with the Dixy Jazz from New
Orleans), and a tradtional Xhosa children group.
After dinner you will have the opportunity to meet a trational

this is a traditional healer and fortune teller).
