service. Your car is going to be checked in our own workshop, fully
comprehensively insured, roadworthied by Test & Drive AA,
registrated with AA Fleetcare for breakdowns.
If you want to cross any borders, we take care of the
necessary documents.
As a member of AA you have a 24 hours breakdown service (Roadside
Assistance).
Every vehicle sold has a limited guarantee - independant of age and
type of vehicle.
At the return of the vehicle, we pay you the agreed and
guaranteed buyback price, subject to the vehicle being returned in
the same condition that it was delivered with all required services
done correctly. Fair wear and tear is accepted.

You buy a
passenger car or 4WD from them; they take care of all the paperwork
etc. and they guarantee to buy back the vehicle from you when you’re
ready to leave the country. ( And they DO pay). You can pay cash,
bank guaranteed cheque international bank transfer, travellers
cheques or even by credit card (which is convenient for refunding
the buy-back portion after return). The guaranteed Buy-Back price is
subject to the vehicle being returned in the same condition as it
was in when delivered – normal wear and tear accepted. The required
mechanical services must also have been completed as per the
contract.
Rental Purchase – the tourist guaranteed buy-back is the best choice
for tourists, business people, university students, backpackers,
sportsmen, or diplomats visiting South Africa for an extended period
of time.
Vehicles available to you include motorcars, prestige
cars, 4x4’s, campers, bush campers, motor homes, vans, microbuses,
station wagons (kombis) and motorbikes. These can be delivered and
retrieved anywhere in South Africa Namibia, Botswana and other
Southern African countries for a set fee according to distance.
On delivery of a vehicle (e.g. to the airport if
requested) you will receive all the required paperwork, including
roadworthy, transfer of ownership, vehicle registration and full
comprehensive insurance. In addition the vehicle comes tested and
serviced with a 30 day or 3000km guarantee (whichever occurs first)
as well as AA (Automobile Association of South Africa) membership
which is valid not only for SA but also for Botswana, Namibia,
Lesotho and Swaziland. Insurance is included at a fraction of the
rates charged by rental companies. Drivers under age 23 enjoy the
same insurance premiums with a slight increase in their excesses.
For periods exceeding eight weeks, Rental Purchase can be 60%
cheaper than renting a vehicle. All you need to do is sign a
contract and forward the contract together with a
clear, preferably scanned copy, of your passport and driver’s
licence to us via Email and they will do the rest. Our unique Buy-Back guarantee is always part of the contract
and requires regular services to be done as per contract. The
vehicle has to be sold back to DA unless otherwise specified in
contract.
For students
and trainees, that are working or studying in Cape Town for a few
months, the inexpensive older model VW Golf’s or similar model cars
(in good condition) from Kaapstad.org are very popular and ideally
suited as transport from and to work and to travel around the
Peninsula and Cape wine region on weekends.
If the car is
purchased with foreign currency or bank transfer the Buy-Back price
can be paid directly into your overseas bank account without a
problem. Carnets can be organised with reduced deposits and drivers
that have just obtained their licences can be insured. Insurance is
not a problem for 1 month or one year.
Kaapstad.org
also offers “MAXI RENTAL” (long term rental) of new vehicles which
include free maintenance without the risk of owning a car. No
services are required. You can readily swop the cars throughout
South Africa if there is a problem. The minimum rental period is 30
days with 150 km free per day. Traditional leasing is also available.
With this the driver is required to have the vehicle serviced
regularly. This is another alternative should you not want to pay
the complete purchase price |
