This lovely place is not discovered yet by the big public and is
only 1 hour driving from the Cape Town International Airport,
between the historical town Tulbagh and the Wellington wine valley.
This is the place to be to experience the country side living, clean
air and an unforgettable southern night sky.
Bartholomeus
Klip is a 10 000 ha fynbosch nature reserve which is part of the
Cape Floral Kingdom, the worlds smallest plant kingdom.
The Victorian
Manor House is
restored in its original condition and decorated with family antiques.

The Bedrooms
Comfort is the keyword when talking about the bedrooms: bedding
made of pure cotton, luxury toiletries and gown.
No television,
the best way to pick up the atmosphere from the country side
living (however there is a television in the main room from the house).
The Disa
room, king size bed and French doors leading to the veranda.

Arum (double or twin beds), is the closest to the swimming pool.
Entrance to the Orchid
Suite, with
king-size bed and own private veranda.
Nerina
(double or twin beds) at the cool side of the house.

Agapanthus (double
or twin beds) with a trompe l'oeil wall in the bathroom.
A bathroom in a typical Victorian style.

A beautiful rose garden and old oaks surround the house.
You can find a quiet moment on the bench hidden away in the
garden.
The saltwater swimming pool and the sundeck are the ideal spots
to enjoy sunset. We can serve brunch in the boathouse with
spectacular view over the dam.
Afternoon game drives: each day
at Bartholomeus Klip is ending with a game drive in the bush. A
unique African experience where guests can observe 500 wild animals
living in the fynbosch.
The game at Bartholomeus Klip:
-
springbok
-
many bird species
-
bontebok
-
wildebeest (blue and black)
-
gemsbok
-
red hartebeest
-
baboon
-
fox eared bat
-
jackal
-
lynx
-
Cape Fox
-
leopard
-
eland
-
bird species
More than 160 bird species
can be spot at Bartholomeus Klip, one of those is the endangered
Blue Crane (a South African national symbol) and the African
fish eagle. Of course belongs the ostrich in this magnificent
landscape.
Characteristic for the nature
reserve is the fynbosch and the rare renosterveld vegetation (renoster
= rhino), both part of the Cape Floral Kingdom. It is also the home
of the worlds most rare turtle.

The reserve is a true flower heaven during springtime. As one of
our guests said "it is maybe better to save a long drive to
Namaqualand and rather stay at Bartholomeus Klip".
