Swellendam: established in 1745 by the East Indian Company in 1745. The district and town is named after the Cape Governor, Hendrik Swellengrebel and his wife Helena Ten Damme.

This attractive historical town is situated along the N2 between Cape Town and Knysna. The Marloth Nature Reserve and Bontebok National Park are within easy reach.
