Wine and dine
Meals are served in the Boma, an
outdoor, covered dining area that overlooks the fever tree forest and water
hole. At night, log fires are lit creating a romantic, bush atmosphere. The
pan-African cuisine offers a variety of dishes in buffet style and usually
includes a venison dish amongst the choices of meat dishes.
The breakfast buffet includes traditional fare as well as an array of
locally grown fresh fruits, yoghurts and health cereals. Lunch is an
informal meal as most guests are out exploring the wonders of the area.
For those who prefer to spend the day relaxing beside the swimming pool or
with a book in our spacious lounge, a light lunch is available off the room
service menu.
Game drives and wildlife
Ubizane Wildlife Reserve boasts a variety of game,
including white rhino, giraffe, wildebeest, zebra, most species of antelope,
and over 350 species of birdlife. You can view the game from the comfort of
equipped game viewing land rovers, on foot for a more thrilling encounter or
on horseback for a wonderfully unique experience.
Adjacent to Ubizane Wildlife Reserve is the renowned Hluhluwe / Umfolozi
Game Reserve, the oldest in Africa, where the big-5 (lion, elephant, rhino,
buffalo and leopard) roam the bush.
Game viewing in open game viewing vehicles is usually
reserved for the early mornings and late afternoons when the animals become
more active after sheltering in the shade of the bush during the heat of the
day.
Foot safaris
Those looking to get really close to nature can embark on foot with a
trained game ranger to see the wonders of the African bush close up. The
foot safaris are ideal for all and give guests the opportunity of truly
experiencing the African bush. |
