The lodge is situated just 15 minutes drive
from the N2 motorway near the town of Hluhluwe and is central to the main
attractions of the area namely Hluhluwe iMfolozi Park, Mkuze Game Reserve
and False Bay Park. The coastal marine reserve and beaches of St Lucia, Cape
Vidal and scuba diving Mecca of Sodwana Bay are a one hour drive away.

Experience the scenic beauty and wildlife of
Hluhluwe iMfolozi Park on an open vehicle game drive. Go horse riding or
hiking in the sand forests of False Bay Park and discover the secrets of an
ancient forest. Satisfy your adventurous spirit on a quad or mountain bike
tour and end the day on a leisurely boat cruise on the gently meandering
Hluhluwe River. The lodge also offers a variety of guided day trips to
surrounding marine reserves and game reserves in the vicinity.

Wine
and dine
Your hosts
at the lodge are Jurie Van Riel and a dedicated team of field guides who
will escort you on game drives and a variety of other adventures on offer at
the lodge. After a midday siesta a light lunch is
served just before you depart on your afternoon safari or adventure. Dinners
are an ala carte affair with a set starter and a choice of main dishes with
a local flavour ranging from fish and poultry to a variety of delicious
meats including our speciality venison. Vegetarians and guests with special
dietary requirements can specify their needs on or prior to arrival. Dinners
are served under the stars in our outside 'isibaya' area when weather
conditions permit or on the main lodge terrace, the cosy dining room is the
obvious indoor alternative if 'al fresco' ( our favourite ) is not an
option. The manager is a local wine guru and will be glad to recommend a choice
from his extensive list of wines personally chosen from a variety of
interesting and alternative South African estate wines. The atmosphere at
the lodge is friendly and relaxed with a home from home approach to
hospitality.

The
central living area of the lodge incorporates a lounge, dining room and bar
which encircle a delightful garden and expansive terrace which has a
splendid 180 degree view of the Hluhluwe river floodplain. The rooms are
spread about a rambling indigenous forested garden and there is a swimming
pool in a secluded spot away from main guest area.

Standard chalets
Thatched A frame style chalet
with deck. The bathroom is made up of an en suite shower and separate
toilet, a vanity unit with one basin, a large mirror and shaver plug. The
chalet is equipped with a mini bar and tea and coffee facility. There is a
comfortable wing back chair, a writing desk, two suitcase racks, clothes
cupboard, telephone, digital safe and an air conditioner.

Family chalets
Thatched A frame style chalet
with deck. The bathroom is made up of an en suite shower and separate
toilet, a vanity unit with two basins, a large mirror and shaver plug. The
chalet is equipped with a mini bar and tea and coffee facility. There are
two comfortable cane chairs, a writing desk, a large suitcase rack, clothes
cupboard, telephone, digital safe and an air conditioner. The chalet is open
plan with two three quarter beds allowing for a double or twin arrangement
and then two single beds which can be screened off with curtains if
required.
Luxury chalets
Thatched A frame style chalet
with an expansive deck area, chairs and coffee table. The bathroom is made
up of an en suite shower and separate toilet, a vanity unit with two basins,
a large mirror and shaver plug. A Victorian bath is just off the main room
area and looks out into the forest. The King size bed is draped with a
romantic mosquito net. The chalet is equipped with a mini bar and tea and
coffee facility. There are two comfortable cane chairs, a writing desk, a
large suitcase rack, clothes cupboard, telephone, digital safe and an air
conditioner.
The lodge
offers a variety of adventures are designed to offer guests a wide choice of
activities wetter they are active adventure seekers or the relaxed
naturalist type content with wildlife, birds and scenery.

Mountain Bikes
Guided and self-guided mountain bike trails for the active type looking for
some adventure and beautiful scenery. We provide well-maintained and
lightweight bikes with balloon tyres for added comfort. Helmets and gloves
as well as water bottles and puncture kits are provided.
Game Drive
Morning and afternoon
drives (in open vehicle game viewer) to the world famous Hluhluwe Imfolozi
Park. The transit to and from the park takes 25 minutes. Tour duration is 4
hours. Morning drive includes tea, coffee, rusks & bottled water. Afternoon
drive includes a drink and snacks.
Bird Watching River Cruise
A short walk from the lodge is the Hluhluwe River where you will go on a
leisurely bird watching trip, lasting 2 hours. Enjoy sundowners and snacks
as the sunsets in the company of a variety of riverine and water birds.
This is a birding tour, NO HIPPOS but small crocs can be seen occasionally.
Eco Quad
Trail
The beginner orientated rides are led by adventure guides who not only
ensure your safety but also carry refreshments for breaks at viewpoints and
provide guests with interesting information about the area be it ecology,
birds, trees or culture. The trips run one, two or three-hour trips
depending on what you want and rides are suitable for all ages from 10 years
and older. Our Suzuki LTF 160 four-stroke bikes are comfortable, silent and
easy to ride and trips are run in a safe and controlled manner. Eco Quad
Trails are dedicated to being environment friendly and only conducted on
existing jeep tracks and rural roads.
Horse Trails
A string of ten horses trained for trail riding is available. Equipped with
the best trail saddles for ultimate comfort our trails range from 2 to 4
hour trails in the beautiful surrounds of False Bays forests and beautiful
lake shore. |
