Great Karoo

The Great Karoo is a semi-desert region north of the N1,
situated in the Western Cape Province and Bloemfontein in the north (Free
State Province). During time, fauna and flora had to adapt to the servere
temperature differences between summer, winter, day and night. It is a
highland with high mountain peaks and mainly overgrown with grasses and
small bushes. The most interesting tourist attraction is the Karoo National
Park in Beaufort West and the Karoo Nature (famous for its Valley of
Desollation) in Graaff-Reinet.

Little Karoo

The Little Karoo offers a landscape with more variation and is situated
120 km north of Cape Town in Worcester and Oudsthoorn in the east.
The most famous attraction of this region is Worcester, Route 62 (the
longest wine route in the world) aan Oudtshoorn which is on its turn the
most northerly section of the Garden Route.
