GOLF COURSES
There is no
doubt that Fancourt is South Africa’s premier golf resort, featuring
three highly rated Championship golf courses as well as the Western
Cape’s premier 18-hole public course.
Since
opening in the early 90's with just 27 Gary Player-designed holes,
Fancourt’s Outeniqua and Montagu golf courses have matured and developed
into two of the finest 18-hole parkland layouts in the country. A round
on either is a special experience, sculpted and finished as they are
with rare attention to detail and designed with the coastal George winds
in mind.
The Links at Fancourt was added in
2000, an awe-inspiring example of magnificent design and golf-course
construction, about which designer Gary Player says: “Links golf is how
the game originated and at The Links we take golfers back to the roots
of golf – and they can play a ‘British Open’ all of their own!”
Lastly, Bramble Hill was added, a
course that is distinctly Fancourt, yet has a friendly character all of
its own. It is a course that can be tackled by beginner and seasoned
campaigner alike, without the intimidation and pressure so often
associated with celebrated championship courses.
In addition to four golf courses suited
to every type of golfer, Fancourt boasts one of the finest golf
academies in the world, with state-of-the-art practice and teaching
facilities, backed up by the expertise of PGA professionals, as well as
several well-stocked on-course pro shops offering all types of golf
merchandise.
At the helm of golf course operations
are two Directors of Golf, Mark Wiltshire (at The Links) and Jason Totos
(at Outeniqua and Montagu), both of whom are on hand to ensure that your
golfing experience at Fancourt is unrivalled.

DINING
Morning Glory Restaurant, named after
Dr Plattner’s winning yacht in the 1999 Cape to Rio yacht race,
overlooks the 1st tee of the Outeniqua Golf Course and serves light
healthy meals using fresh local ingredients
Glentana
Glentana, stunningly poised
high above the Indian Ocean, offers the ultimate in seclusion,
privacy and luxury.
Looking for total anonymity?
Glentana, a romantic timber lodge situated on 43 remote hectares on
the ocean's edge with only birds and the surge of the waves breaking
the silence, is the perfect escape.
Perched on the clifftop between
Glentana beach and the Maalgate River on the rugged Garden Route
coastline, Glentana maintains Fancourt's world-renowned standards of
excellence and symbolizes the vision of its owners Sabine and Hasso
Plattner to add exciting new dimensions to tourism in South Africa.
In contrast to the rough terrain
the lodge is relaxing and very comfortable. Blue dominates in the
elegant decor to reflect the ocean view which extends to the
horizon. Picture wall charts remind one that dolphins and whales
often frolick in the waters below.
Designed with more than
honeymooners in mind (there is one coy bedroom), the spacious
proportions of the living area can accommodate one-day executive
think tanks in comfort, for highly private corporate meetings.
In addition to an extensive lounge,
a covered verandah deck with outdoor seating runs along two sides of
the building. There are two showers and toilets, a well-equipped
kitchen and gas-generated power.
A small private golden beach is
accessed by a wooden stairway of 200 steps.
TRANSFERS AND AIRPORT LOUNGE
Fancourt Hotel and Country Club Estate
