Homestead
suites : the large suite on the ground
floor is accessed from the hall. One first enters the lounge area with a
large old fireplace and very comfortable leather furniture. Sash windows
look out over the private garden on the one side and over the
Uilkraalsvalley, the Lomond vineyards, the lake of Kraaiboschdam and the
mountains behind Gansbaai to the other side.
The lounge is
separated from the sleeping area by a semi-wall which doubles as a counter
with ample packing space underneath. The bathroom has a bath and huge
shower-area with two shower-heads. The windows of the bathroom look out into
the covered terrace and private garden. The toilet is separate from the
bathroom. Opposite the king size bed there is study table.

Gansbaai and not far from Cape Agulhas, the farest geographical point of the
African Continent. De lodge offers 6 rooms in a eco-friendly concept.
This part of the
Overberg is remote and undisturbed: not a streetlight or tar-road in sight
and you can hear the silence. Still once you make it to the retreat on the
hill, the accommodation has everything to offer.

Luxury accommodation is offered in 3
types of guest-units (6 in total):
-
three modern and freestanding fynbos-suites;
-
two spacious rooms en suite in the old homestead;
-
large suite on the ground floor of the old homestead.
Meals are made from
fresh local ingredients and served in the spacious dining- and bar-area,
next to the homestead. The 25m heated lap-pool is reached via a winding
wooden boardwalk from the deck in front of the dining-area. The homestead
with 2 lounges and an extensive book-collection opens to a covered courtyard
which provides shelter against the mid-day heat.

The fynbos
suites are large and luxurious
freestanding units. These suites offer privacy and seclusion and unspoilt
view over the Agulhas Plains towards the ocean and down towards the lake of
Kraaiboschdam and surrounding vineyards of the Lomond estate.
The whole front of
the suite is all glass with three big sliding doors opening up to the
covered wooden deck stretched out over the whole front of the suite.

The fynbos suite
exists out of three interconnected spaces: lounge, bed- and bath-area. The
shower and toilet are accessed by the only inside-door in the suite, but the
bath stands rather shamelessly in front of a large window.
A fireplace, open to
the lounge and visible -through fire resistant glass- from the bed, warms
the suite up during chilly evenings. A copper coil in the chimney catches
the heat which otherwise would have escaped through the chimney and
transports it to the underfloor heating.
Electricity-wise each
suite is totally independent and powered solely by its own solar-panels cum
invertor. However, as a result of the use of solar-power: hair-dryers
swallow too much current and cannot be used.
The first suite is an
easy walk from the homestead, where the third suite is quite a walk. The
second suite, of course, is in the middle; not too close, not too far.
Homestead rooms:
there are two guest-rooms on the first floor of the homestead. These
spacious rooms have a wooden floor offering an unspoilt view of the Overberg
through large sash-windows.
Bathrooms en suite
have bath and separate shower. One room has a king-size bed, the other room
has twin beds. One room has a second room with a day-bed, functioning as the
access to the bathroom as well as to the balcony.
Each room has a
study-table, comfortable chairs and ample packing-space. The rooms have a
more traditional feel than the fynbos suites.
