Oudtshoorn, with no doubt the ostrich capital in the world. This peaceful town is situated in the northern section of the Garden Route, in the Little Karoo which is a semi desert.

The ostrich feather industry knew a boom at the end of the 19th century. This can today still be seen in the so called 'Ostrich Baron Manor houses (Fosters Manor Guest House).

The biggest tourist attractions are the ostrich farms and the Cango Caves. The Cango Caves are one of the largest limestone caves in the southern hemisphere. Other tourist attractions are the Cango Cheetah and Crocodile Ranch where visitors can see from close by the largest cats on our planet (the only white tigers on the African continent) and even make a plunge in a pool with crocodiles.
