The Drostdy is one of the 220 National
Monuments in the oldest town of the Eastern Cape and the fourth oldest town
in South Africa.

The Foyer with its doors wide open offers a
view on the Reinet House, another famous National Monument at the end of the
road.

Enter this
National Monument and travel back into the past. The yellowwood floors,
Persian carpets and the antique table with a lovely bunch of flowers give
immediately and idea of what we are offering our guests.
The imposing slave bell
reminds of a time when these cottages were emancipated slave quarters. Each
and every of the 51 rooms varies in size, shape, and decor. All are
en-suite, equipped with air-conditioning and all modern day amenities to
ensure a luxurious stay.
Next to the
pool is
the Stretch's Court, a narrow street with cobble stones and at both
sides the colourful bougainvillea flowers.

144 candles are lit in brass
candelabras in the original court room of the Landdrost – now the elegant
table d’hôte dining room. It reminds of a romantic era, two centuries ago.
An absolute must is our Karoo Lamb, a speciality in the region.
The Wijnkamer is an extension
of the diningroom and is often used for small special events.
The biggest tourist attraction
in the region is the Karoo Nature Reserve (niet to be confused with the
Karoo National Park near Beaufort West). The Valley of Desolation is a
natural wonder in the reserve and a favourite spot for sundowners.
