Imagine
the early morning mist lifting off a berg river, the trout rising... Penwarn
is a premier fishing location with seven dams (one is two kilometres long)
and eight kilometres of river, and 6-9 pounders are regularly hooked.
Five dams are stocked from our own trout hatchery and two are bass dams. We
will supply boats and rods, and arrange a fishing clinic for those who wish
to perfect the art of fly-fishing.

Penwarn Country Lodge situated just outside Underberg in the southern part
of the Drakensbergen.

between two fully-catered exclusive lodges, Mthini Lodge and Indabushe Lodge
and enjoy a break in sumptuous colonial style.The farm Penwarn lies in a
beautiful valley traversed by two rivers. Zebra, wildebeest and antelope
roam free across the plains, while the blue heights of the Drakensberg rise
up to the west. Options are endless – unparalleled fly-fishing, horse riding
and game drives. Enjoy river swimming and tubing, abseiling, archery,
mountain biking, wing-shooting or other adventure sports. Discover the
secret beauty of san rock art and wild flowers or spot some of our 280
species of birds. Go hiking and take in the scenery of the Drakensberg, a
World Heritage Site. Only 20 minutes from the mountain village of Underberg,
this is the ideal base for day trips up the Sani Pass.
We also offer self-catering accommodation in cottages and a cave. Penwarn
makes the perfect venue for challenging teambuilding exercises, tough 4x4
orienteering, conferences, enchanting weddings or other special occasions.
Mthini Lodge is an intensely private affair. With a maximum of only
eight guests, per-sonal attention is simply a matter of course. Here you can
live in sumptuous colonial style with a view that will make you sing.

barrier of indigo peaks – the Drakensberg. The four rooms, luxuriously
